The evacuees of Fort McMurray were granted permission to return home in a staged manner from the first to the forth of June, 2016. From some, the loss to fire of their homes means continued delay. One thing we know for sure is that all of us will be facing a “new” normal as the future unfolds. This beast of a wildfire has consumed more than twenty-four hundred structures and has raged through nearly six hundred thousand hectares of forest. We have been shaken and scattered yet we are determined to carve out our place in the future of our city. Flashbacks of fear and the surreal experience of this recent and rapid evacuation shall arise periodically. However the changes that have been forced upon us may be the catalyst that was needed for us to become better persons with a clearer sense of the true values of time and eternity.
Do not miss out! Cooking and serving food, stacking provisions and stocking shelves, greeting and guiding new neighbours as they pick up free goods are a few of the ways to serve.
For NorthLife Church, we are already witnesses to the fact that the new normal means a new day of impact for Christ. We are rising to the challenges of being “the hands and feet” of Christ in seizing this season of opportunity. It is an “all hands on deck” time! Feeding the hungry, clothing the needy, offering provisions all in the Name of our Lord is happening like never before. Do not miss out! Cooking and serving food, stacking provisions and stocking shelves, greeting and guiding new neighbours as they pick up free goods are a few of the ways to serve. The facility of NorthLife Church is being transformed into a centre of service to the city. The corner of Franklin Avenue and Alberta Drive, Downtown Fort McMurray, invites us to make a difference!
Also, a huge welcome to Pastor Asa Bartos and his new bride Suz! Asa will give oversight to the Worship and Youth ministries of NorthLife. They have arrived from Cleveland, Ohio and are just in time for the re-opening of our Church on this 12th day of June, post-wildfire, post-evacuation!
