The Plan

Home Page Slides - VisionStatement-01

The Plan:  “A family of nations loving God together.”  Periodically in life, an insight comes our way that clarifies why we do what we do on planet earth as Christians.  That happened to me a few years ago as I read an article written by David Bryant.  A phrase in the article gave me a fresh perspective on the metanarrative (over-riding story) of God.  “God loves His Son and has a wonderful PLAN for HIM, to bring all the nations to His feet as Lord of all, and He loves you and me enough to give us a place in it.”  Bryant refers also to the similar clarification by Steve Hawthorne:  “While it’s true that the Father loves the world so much that He gave His Son, the greater love is that the Father loves the Son so much that He gives Him to the world!” (John 3:16, 35)

They cover the thinking from accepting that “all have sinned” to “opening the door” of our hearts, inviting Christ into our lives. Every Christian should be familiar with these verses so that we are ready to help someone to cross the line of faith.

Every time someone places their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, the plan of God is being fulfilled.  When we introduce a person to Christ we are flowing with the plan of God.  This leads us to the question:  “What are some ways by which we may introduce others to our Lord?”   The answer spans the whole gamut - from an act of kindness to an actual verbal presentation of the gospel.  From giving the thirsty one a cup of cold water in Jesus name - to opening the specific Scriptures that cause a person to know that as sinners, we need the Savior who died for our sins on the Cross.

Some of my favourite Bible verses by which I have been able to point others to salvation are:  Romans 3:23; 6:23a; 5:8; 6:23b; 10:9, 10 and Revelation 3:20, in that order.  This is sometimes called “the Romans Road” because these Scriptures define the path of God to being saved.  They cover the thinking from accepting that “all have sinned” to “opening the door” of our hearts, inviting Christ into our lives. Every Christian should be familiar with these verses so that we are ready to help someone to cross the line of faith.  Write them on the fly-leaf of your Bible and memorize them.  We can be instruments of God to fulfill His wonderful plan.
