Aurorawatch: I recently discovered an interesting website: www.aurorawatch.com. This website “provides a real-time monitor of geomagnetic activity” in the Edmonton, Alberta locale. This site is a predictor of the likelihood of viewing those awesome northern lights. It is a rare night that I don’t look up to the heavens to attempt to catch a glimpse of this northern phenomena. Late one night I donned some warm clothing and drove outside of our city of Fort McMurray and followed the Tower Road to catch a better view of the aurora. One thing for sure, if we don’t look up we shall not see!
Every effort needs to be extended and every attitude corrected to give a ‘hand-up’ to all.
I cannot help but think of the many Scriptures that remind us to “look up” in relation to the return of Jesus Christ. “Someday he (Jesus) will return from heaven in the same way you saw him go.” Acts 1:11. “For as the lightning flashes in the east and shines to the west, so will it be when the Son of Man comes.” Matthew 24:27. Our Lord said, “So you, too, must keep watch! For you don’t know what day your Lord is coming…you also must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected.” Matthew 24:42, 44. “And they speak of how you are looking forward to the coming of God’s Son from heaven – Jesus, whom God raised from the dead. He is the one who has rescued us from the terrors of the coming judgment.” 1 Thessalonians 1:10.
Terrorism and turmoil are constantly fermenting here on this earth. With all of our advancements, the human condition continues to foam out hatreds and violence. Billions of dollars are distributed for the needy of earth, yet instabilities and often corrupt leadership seem to cause millions of people to remain poor, living in sub-standard situations. Every effort needs to be extended and every attitude corrected to give a ‘hand-up’ to all. Yet, Christ-followers keep looking to the heavens, knowing that it is not just “what is this world coming to – but rather – Who is coming to this world” that will make all things new. Look up, redemption draws near! Aurorawatch is good – HisComingWatch is great!
